National Federation of the Blind of Kentucky
The NFB is the only organization that believes in the full capacity of blind people and has the power, influence, diversity, and determination to help transform our dreams into reality.
The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want; blindness is not what holds you back.
The National Federation of the Blind of Kentucky is a state affiliate of the National Federation of the Blind.
Becoming a member of the National Federation of the Blind is easy to do and can be done in a variety of ways. Membership in the NFB is extremely rewarding because it opens up a network of unparalleled support, friendship, and resources. With more than 50,000 members, the National Federation of the Blind is the largest and most influential membership organization of blind people in the United States.
The purpose of the National Federation of the Blind of Kentucky is to advance the general welfare of the blind of Kentucky and the nation. We function as an integral part of the National Federation of the Blind.
Serving as a vehicle for collective action by the blind of Kentucky, we operate as a mechanism through which the blind can come together in local chapters and state meetings to plan and carry out programs to improve the quality of life of the blind.
We provide a means of collective action for parents of blind children and forward the interests of blind students and provide them with a means of joint action and expression.
The NFBK also promotes the vocational, cultural, and social advancement of the blind.
We are dedicated to achieve the integration of the blind into society on a basis of equality with the sighted, and to take any other action which will improve the overall condition and standard of living of the blind.
